While Grieg domesticated Norwegian folk music with its inherent microtonality in his piano “slåtter” based on fiddle transcriptions, the performers in this work are looking for the “lost” microtonality in old cassette recordings, and tries through transcription and writing to create new microtonal sounds by transforming the tempered grand piano into a microtonal string instrument.
