Fourth quartet.jpg

About the work:

Using the slow movement of Beethovens string quartet opus 132, a piece written in complete deafness, as building blocks, this work attempts to trigger the inner ear of the audience with the help of visual cues from  a silent video. The live string quartet goes in dialogue with silent doppelgängers on the video screen behind them as well as a “ghost” quartet of instruments mounted with transducers playing by themselves - the instruments literally and metaphorically becoming resonant chambers of string quartet recordings.
